Gays Want Special Rights?


Kirk paused over the marital status question on his Terran tax form. 
By all rights his answer should have been different this year--but 
Earth had not recognized same-sex marriages in over forty years. An 
unholy alliance of Christian and Muslim groups had successfully 
pushed through an amendment to the U.N.E. constitution limiting 
marriage to one man and one woman, or one man and up to three women 
in localities where polygyny had traditionally been practiced. 

Vulcan recognized any bonding, however. Kirk snooped in Spock's files 
hoping for some vindication, but Vulcan tax law does not refer to 
marital status.
